£95,000 – £105,000 base salary, up to 10% bonus

We're looking for a Java Technical Lead (Finance) to take charge of the architecture, delivery, and evolution of a mission‑critical Finance Engineering platform. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who thrives on innovation, security, and developing high‑performing teams.

• Lead the design and implementation of scalable, secure Java‑based applications
• Write clean, performant, testable code and enforce strong coding standards
• Drive architectural decisions and collaborate closely with architects and Dev Ops
• Own system security, automated testing, and CI/CD best practices
• Ensure smooth release cycles and resolve production issues effectively
• Use AI‑assisted coding tools to boost productivity and efficiency
• Mentor engineers, run 1:1s, and lead from the front
• Collaborate cross‑functionally with Product, UX, and QA to deliver results
• Represent the team in technical forums and influence engineering culture

• 10+ years’ experience in Java engineering (B2B or B2C SaaS)
• 4+ years’ experience in technical leadership roles
• 2+ years working in Fin Tech or payments systems
• Proven background with:
  • Java, Spring Boot, Hibernate, Maven
  • REST APIs and microservices
  • Event‑driven architecture (Kafka, RabbitMQ, Pulsar, or SQS)
  • PostgreSQL and No
    
    SQL databases
  • AWS and cloud‑based environments
  • TDD, BDD, CI/CD pipelines (Git, Jenkins, Docker)
• Solid grasp of software design patterns, systems thinking, and scalability
• Exceptional communication skills – able to bridge technical and business discussions
• A strong mentor with a positive, pragmatic leadership style
