Role Overview

As a Senior Software Engineer you will design, build, and maintain systems within the BSS/OSS space, ensuring software is robust, scalable, and secure, and contributing to the design and planning of key components within larger platform initiatives.

Responsibilities
  • Lead key aspects of technical design, development, code review, and testing for delivered components.
  • Support and coach engineers on technologies, standards, and best practices.
  • Enhance CI/CD pipelines and engineering practices within the squad.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies and support project delivery and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Product, Operations, and other stakeholders to refine and improve requirements.
  • Ensure systems meet standards across cost control, security, configuration, and asset management.
  • Create clear technical documentation to support maintainability, operability, and business continuity.
  • Drive quality through robust testing strategies and identify opportunities to adopt new technologies.
Qualifications
  • Strong hands‑on experience with Java (Java 8+) and solid understanding of object‑oriented programming principles.
  • Experience designing and building RESTful APIs with a focus on scalability and maintainability.
  • Strong SQL and database design experience, with performance optimisation knowledge.
  • Experience using version control systems (ideally Git) within collaborative environments.
  • Knowledge of automated testing frameworks (e.g., JUnit, Cucumber, Selenium) and CI/CD practices.
  • Experience working in Agile teams and using tools such as Jira.
  • Familiarity with AWS and cloud‑native development (desirable).
  • Understanding of containerisation technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) (desirable).

Important Information

We require all candidates to be eligible to work in the UK and pass a basic DBS check. Unfortunately, we are not able to offer visa sponsorship or relocation support for this role. This role is hybrid, with a mix of office and home working.
