We are seeking a talented App Developer to join our dynamic digital team. In this role, you will be instrumental in designing, developing, and maintaining high‑quality mobile applications that serve millions of pet owners across the UK. Your primary focus will be on enhancing the Pets at Home mobile app, ensuring it is accessible, reliable, and scalable to meet the evolving needs of our users.

This hybrid position offers the flexibility to work from our Support Office in Handforth, Cheshire, combining collaborative in‑office interactions with the convenience of remote work. As an integral part of our agile development environment, you will collaborate closely with cross‑functional teams including Product, Design, QA, and Engineering to deliver innovative solutions that improve user experience and operational efficiency.

• Proven experience in mobile application development, with strong technical skills in React Native, Type Script, Redux, React Navigation, and Firebase.
• Solid understanding of mobile development principles, including state management, API integration, and performance optimization.
• Experience with testing frameworks such as Jest, React Testing Library, or Maestro.
• Excellent communication and problem‑solving skills, with a collaborative mindset and a passion for writing clean, maintainable code.
• Background in continuous learning and adapting to fast‑paced agile environments.
• Nice‑to‑have: experience with cloud platforms like Azure and exposure to native mobile technologies for iOS and Android.

• Develop, test, and maintain features within the Pets at Home mobile app using React Native.
• Deliver scalable, high‑quality solutions aligned with engineering best practices, ensuring optimal app performance, reliability, and usability.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, QA, and Engineering teams, contributing to an agile workflow, participating in code reviews, and driving continuous process improvements.
• Own performance metrics and work to enhance app speed and responsiveness.
• Write and maintain comprehensive unit and end‑to‑end tests to ensure robustness of releases.
• Champion accessibility standards and inclusive design principles, ensuring the app is usable by all customers.
• Take a proactive approach to problem‑solving and innovation, helping shape the future of our mobile experience for pet owners nationwide.
