Backend Developer
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled back-end Senior Online Developer to join our tech team, to help build and support internal and external web APIs to support our game engine team.
The successful candidate will join a small team and use their specialist JavaScript knowledge to be involved in the entire software development lifecycle, from requirements gathering and system design to implementation, testing, deployment, and maintenance. You will be working on building internal tools as well as public facing APIs.
We are looking for a talented senior or lead who has experience building performant and distributed backend APIs, and efficiently utilising 3rd party services. They will be comfortable communicating with other teams to fix bugs and resolve issues.
This role can be based at our Oxford or Warwick studios. Relocation package is available.
Key Outcomes- Produce performant and well documented code.
- Successfully develop and deploy new tools to support our game teams.
- Responsive to bugs and issues as they arise and provide speedy resolution.
- Design, build and deploy web applications to support our in-house engine team.
- Maintain and improve existing tools.
- Develop integrations with third party APIs.
- Support our application deployments.
- Communicate with other teams.
- Strong experience with Node.js, JavaScript and Type Script.
- Knowledge of front-end frameworks such as Vue and React.
- Experience with databases such as MySQL and No
SQL databases. - Familiarity with AWS or equivalent cloud environments.
- Experience with version control systems (Git/Perforce desirable).
- Demonstrated capacity to quickly learn new technologies.
- Comfortable modifying/maintaining applications written in other languages such as PHP is desirable.
- Experience writing serverless functions (AWS Lambda/Azure Functions) is a bonus.
