We are Specto Medical, a medical software company building immersive visualization tools for medical imaging data. Our flagship product, Specto, lets surgeons and clinicians inspect CT and MRI scans in mixed or virtual reality, providing instant spatial understanding of patient anatomy. Our company purpose is to improve patient outcomes. Specto is FDA‑cleared and CE‑marked, and our eQMS is ISO 13485 certified.
Following a successful Series A, we are now ramping up development of Specto 2, the next generation of our spatial computing platform for surgical planning. Specto 2 is built around the Apple Vision Pro, with a strong focus on reliability and scalability, initially targeting brain surgery. Our roots are in Basel, Switzerland, but our team and our customers are international.
Job DescriptionWe are looking for a senior software engineer to join our engineering team to build Specto 2. You will help architect, design and build a VR‑first medical application, working closely with clinicians, designers, and the rest of the engineering team to turn complex requirements into robust, maintainable software with a best‑in‑class user experience.
Responsibilities- Design and develop new features for our VR medical application
- Drive architectural decisions as we build the next generation of our platform
- Collaborate with clinicians and designers to translate surgical workflows into software
- Champion our quality and documentation standards and mentor others by example
- Work within our eQMS (ISO 13485/14971, IEC 62304/62366‑1)
- Proven excellence in object‑oriented programming, software design, and architecture
- Credibility to set standards and uphold software engineering best practices
- A track record of writing clean, testable, and maintainable code
- Experience with C# and real‑time or 3D applications
- A talent for promoting teamwork
- Comfortable working with verification and validation, traceability and risk management in regulated medical development processes
- Self‑reliance and genuine interest in learning new technologies and domains
- Proficient in written and spoken English
- Existing working permit in the EU or Switzerland
- Expertise in the development of software as a medical device
- Experience with Unity, Godot, Swift, and Apple APIs
- Experience with Type Script, ASP.NET Core, networking, or XR development
