Overview
GroundIQ, part of Fugro, combines advanced ground imaging with geotechnical data to help engineers understand the subsurface. We are seeking a Scientific Product Engineer who can bridge science and product development by turning cutting-edge research, algorithms, and models into reliable software solutions used on real-world infrastructure projects.
Responsibilities- Translate scientific research, algorithms, and prototypes into reliable product features that deliver value to engineers.
- Own features end-to-end, from defining problems and validating solutions to measuring real-world impact.
- Collaborate with users and stakeholders to understand needs, prioritise development, and ensure scientific rigor where it matters most.
- Work across the technology stack, from frontend and backend development to cloud infrastructure, scientific computing, and machine learning.
- Optimize and scale solutions, including performance-critical components where required.
- Leverage AI-powered tools to enhance development speed, quality, and productivity.
- Balance scientific excellence with product delivery, while actively sharing knowledge and supporting team growth.
- Strong academic background in Physics, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, typically MSc or PhD level.
- 4+ years of experience building and delivering software products with end-to-end ownership.
- Experience transforming scientific research, algorithms, or prototypes into production-ready solutions.
- Experience across the technology stack with strong expertise in Python and scientific computing.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to thrive in ambiguous, research-driven environments.
- Ability to leverage AI tools to improve productivity and quality, while maintaining a pragmatic, collaborative, and user-focused mindset.
