Brighton and Hove City Council is seeking a Digital Developer to join our team of Website developers. The focus of this role will be on our Drupal forms estate using the Webform modules built in Form Builder. These forms will integrate with our in‑house developed application for managing all submissions. Configuring workflows within this application is a function this role would also become expert in.

This role is part of a highly skilled and busy digital and data team who are all committed to helping deliver successful outcomes for our digital and data programmes. These programmes are an important part of the Council’s Digital Data and Technology (DDaT) strategy. Additional funding has been made available to support our DDaT capabilities through innovative programmes such as Turbocharging Innovation and Turbocharging Systems, so we are seeking experienced and driven individuals to support our ambitions.

In this role, you’ll need to have:

• A solid understanding of online form concepts
• Experience developing forms solutions
• An appreciation of good UX
• Be capable of working with both a visual development tool and configuration languages such as YAML
• A solid knowledge of web development and web standards, including Accessibility
• Experience of Agile development in a corporate environment

This role primarily focuses on using the Form Builder application and the associated in‑house built Contact Management application. Whilst not directly a role involving Drupal module development, an understanding of Drupal concepts such as site building and front‑end development with semantic HTML, Twig templating, CSS and JavaScript would be an advantage.

Your contractual location will be the designated council office for your team and travel to and from your contractual location would be at your own expense.
