About the Role

We're hiring a Liferay Backend Lead Developer to lead the development and integration of our headless Liferay DXP implementation, guiding a small team of backend developers and acting as the technical point of contact for Liferay-related work.

Responsibilities

Lead the configuration and extension of Liferay DXP as a headless CMS: content types, structures/templates, Document & Media, multilingual publishing workflows
Design and oversee development of custom REST/GraphQL endpoints and Liferay Client Extensions
Configure Liferay's native workflow engine for content draft/review/approval/publish cycles
Guide integration of Liferay's authentication/authorization with the platform's OAuth2/OIDC and SSO framework
Review code, mentor mid-level and junior backend developers, and enforce coding/architecture standards
Optimize content API performance (caching, query tuning) to meet defined SLAs
Coordinate with the Solution Architect on architecture decisions and with integration teams on cross-system data flows
Own technical delivery estimates and timelines for Liferay backend work streams
Maintain up-to-date API documentation for internal and external consumers

Requirements

7+ years of backend development and integration experience, with strong hands-on Liferay DXP API development
Experience leading or mentoring a development team
Strong REST/GraphQL API design and implementation skills
Experience with authentication/authorization flows (OAuth2, OIDC) and secure data handling
Familiarity with containerized deployment (Docker/Kubernetes) and CI/CD pipelines
Comfortable working directly with architects and cross-functional/multi-vendor teams

Nice to Have

Liferay Application Developer Certified (LAD) / Building Enterprise Websites with Liferay (BEWL)
Experience synchronizing content between cloud and on-premises/edge systems
