About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced and motivated Senior Software Engineer to join their dynamic, distributed team. This is a fully remote position, offering flexibility and the opportunity to work from anywhere within South Africa. You will play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and deploying scalable and robust software solutions that address complex business challenges. This role requires a proactive individual with a passion for clean code, automated testing, and collaborative development practices.

You'll be instrumental in shaping the future of our client's core platform, contributing to architectural decisions and mentoring junior engineers within a supportive, remote-first environment.

• Design and implement scalable, high-performance backend services and APIs using modern technologies.
• Develop and maintain robust, well-tested codebases, adhering to best practices in software development.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define features and technical specifications.
• Participate in code reviews, providing constructive feedback to peers to ensure code quality and consistency.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues in production and development environments.
• Contribute to architectural discussions and technology selection for new projects and features.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of professional experience in software development, with a strong focus on backend systems.
• Proficiency in at least one object-oriented programming language such as Python, Java, C#, or Go.
• Solid understanding of database technologies (SQL and No
  
  SQL), caching mechanisms, and message queues.
• Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with proven ability to work effectively in a remote team setting.
