Senior Backend Engineer - API Development

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Senior Backend Engineer to join their growing technology team based in Paarl . This role is central to designing, developing, and maintaining the robust server-side logic and APIs that power our client's core products and services. You will collaborate closely with frontend developers, product managers, and other engineers to build scalable, efficient, and reliable systems.

• Design, build, and maintain scalable, high-performance RESTful APIs and microservices.
• Develop server-side applications using modern programming languages and frameworks (e.g., Java , Python, Go, Node.js).
• Optimize application performance, database queries, and system architecture for speed and reliability.
• Write clean, well-documented, and thoroughly tested code, participating actively in code reviews.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into robust technical solutions.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in backend software development .
• Strong proficiency with at least one modern backend language and associated frameworks.
