The opportunity

This is a contract engagement supporting a major Information Security AI transformation, a large programme that is modernising and automating the security operating model with agentic AI.

We are looking for both a Principal and Senior hands-on engineer to drive the build of a portfolio of agentic AI security applications, defining the solution architecture and contributing to the most complex components of the solution and system design.

You would work with a good degree of autonomy to deliver a defined set of outcomes across complex and current problems in AI security. You will collaborate with software and solution architects to define target architectures, coordinate the workloads of software engineers, and remain hands-on throughout the development lifecycle.

The role will have a strong software engineering focus, building AI-native applications and agentic solutions, primarily within a Python and AWS environment.

What you would deliver

Technical leadership of the build, turning target architecture into production-quality software across a portfolio of agentic AI applications, APIs and services.
Engineering standards, Dev Sec Ops  practices and a secure development lifecycle, integrated with the organisation's established central CI/CD platform, pipelines and golden paths.
An AI-native software delivery operating model built on agentic harnesses and automation.
Reusable frameworks, libraries and platform capabilities that accelerate delivery and ensure security is built in by default.
Delivery of the most complex components and integrations across the agentic AI roadmap.
Contribution to solution and low-level architecture, working alongside established software and solution architects.
Technical assurance through code review, quality standards and mentoring to raise engineering standards across the wider team.
Hands-on development of AI-native applications incorporating agentic logic.

Skills and experience

Extensive practical software engineering experience, including technically leading engineering teams and delivering complex, production-quality systems p, current experience building agentic AI applications, including LLM orchestration, Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG), tool and function calling, MCP, memory, evaluation and agent harnesses.
Strong Python software engineering experience.
Demonstrable knowledge and experience with Lang Graph and agentic development frameworks.
Experience implementing or evolving engineering standards, Dev Sec Ops  practices and secure development life cycles.
Strong understanding of CI/CD platforms, pipelines and modern software engineering practices.
Experience defining or evolving an engineering operating model, ideally an AI-native model built around agentic harnesses and automation.
Experience delivering solutions on AWS, ideally with Amazon Bedrock, containers and Infrastructure as Code.
A solid grounding in secure-by-default engineering, observability and production operability.
Practical knowledge of AI security practices, including the OWASP Top 10 for LLM and Generative AI applications and OWASP guidance for agentic AI.
Previous experience working within Information Security or Security engineering environments would be beneficial.
Frontend development experience would be advantageous.

Working arrangements

Flexible approach to onsite working, with remote working available depending on experience and suitability for the role.
