Senior Technical Artist

Our client seeks a skilled and innovative Senior Technical Artist to join their fully remote team based in Durban . This role serves as a critical bridge between art and engineering, focusing on optimizing art assets and workflows for game development. You will develop tools, shaders, and pipelines that empower artists, improve performance, and enhance visual quality. The ideal candidate is a problem-solver with a deep understanding of both artistic principles and programming, committed to driving efficiency and visual fidelity in a remote setting.

• Develop and maintain robust art pipelines, custom tools, and scripts to enhance artistic workflows.
• Create and optimize complex shaders, materials, and visual effects for real-time rendering.
• Collaborate with artists and engineers to troubleshoot asset integration issues and optimize performance.
• Research and implement new technologies and techniques to improve visual quality and development efficiency.
• Provide technical support and training to the art team on pipeline tools and best practices.

• 5+ years of experience as a Technical Artist in the game development industry.
• Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, MEL, or C#.
• Strong knowledge of 3D modeling, texturing, and rendering pipelines.
• Experience with shader development (e.g., HLSL, GLSL) and game engines (e.g., Unreal Engine, Unity).
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and experience working effectively in a remote development environment.
