Automotive Software Architect

• Define and document the overall software architecture for automotive systems, including hardware-software interfaces.
• Lead the design and implementation of software components, ensuring adherence to architectural principles and coding standards.
• Collaborate with systems engineers, hardware engineers, and application developers to define software requirements and designs.
• Evaluate and select appropriate technologies, tools, and development methodologies for automotive software projects.
• Ensure software architecture supports key automotive standards and protocols (e.g., AUTOSAR, CAN, Ethernet).
• Mentor software development teams, providing technical guidance and promoting best practices in software engineering.
• Identify and mitigate technical risks associated with the software architecture.
• Contribute to the strategic planning of future automotive software development.
• Perform code reviews and architectural reviews to ensure quality and consistency.

• Master's or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in software development, with at least 5 years in an architectural role within the automotive industry.
• In-depth knowledge of embedded systems, real-time operating systems (RTOS), and automotive communication protocols.
• Experience with AUTOSAR architecture and development is highly desirable.
• Proven track record of designing and delivering complex software architectures for automotive applications (e.g., ADAS, Infotainment, Powertrain).
• Proficiency in C/C++ programming languages and software design patterns.
• Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles in automotive systems.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking skills.
• Strong leadership, communication, and collaboration capabilities.
• Must be available for hybrid work in Cape Town, Western Cape, ZA , with occasional on-site presence required.
