Junior Developer

Point Wire is an innovative, fast-growing Cyber Security Consultancy helping organisations protect their people, systems, and data from evolving digital threats. We are not looking for someone who needs to know everything from day 1 however, we are looking for a Junior Developer who is curious, willing to learn, prepared to question the code in front of them and, who has a good foundation in software development to really grow their career with us.

So, what's involved?

As a Junior Developer you will play an important role in designing, building and improving software that supports innovative solutions. Working alongside our Master of Tech & Security Director, you'll write and test code, solve technical challenges, fix bugs and help develop tools that make systems more secure and efficient.

• Writing and maintaining code for internal tools, applications and software solutions.
• Supporting the development of new features and functionality.
• Fixing bugs and resolving technical issues.

• Helping develop tools that support security testing and monitoring.
• Learning how to identify and prevent security vulnerabilities in code.
• Supporting the development of scripts that automate repetitive security tasks.
• Understanding how software can be designed to protect sensitive information.

• Testing software to ensure it works as expected.
• Identifying errors and investigating why code isn’t working.
• Documenting issues and helping implement solutions.

• Software development fundamentals and the ability to read and understand code
• Degree or similar in Software Development
• One or more modern programming or scripting languages
• Curious and problem-solving attitude
• Ability to write clear and useful technical documentation
• Experience with Python and or Java Script
• Some work experience as a Software Developer
• Git and source control
• Web application fundamentals, including APIs, HTTP and JSON
• Working with third-party libraries, packages and dependencies
• Testing, troubleshooting and debugging
• Familiar with Dev Ops principles, from containerisation through to deploying and managing applications in the cloud

Like all roles at Point Wire, this role is Hybrid-Remote. This means that travel is required for the role at a minimum to attend team meetings and collaborate with colleagues but may require travel to customer & partner sites to build meaningful relationships. When you’re not required at a customer meeting, partner meeting, team meeting, or any other in person collaboration requirement;

you will be able to work from home. Frequent expensed travel to the South-West of England may also be required.
