Position: Software Engineer, Compensation Planning – Pave, NYC
Location: New York

Managing over $190 billion in compensation spend for industry leaders like OpenAI, Databricks, and Stripe,
Pave is transforming how enterprises plan, benchmark, and communicate employee pay. As a full-time Software Engineer, Compensation Planning based in New York, NY
, you will build the mission-critical workflows that give organizations confidence in every pay decision, powered by real-time data and predictive intelligence.

Engineering at Pave:
Compensation Planning Workflows

As a product engineer within the Compensation Planning domain, you will architect and deliver the core experiences that executive teams, compensation specialists, and managers rely on daily. Instead of working in isolation, you will partner directly with product managers and designers to translate rough concepts into reliable, production-grade features.

The engineering team values end-to-end technical ownership, pragmatic problem-solving, and rapid iteration guided by direct customer feedback loops. Your contributions will directly shape how thousands of global companies manage and optimize their compensation strategies.

Key Qualifications and Technical Profile

Pave is looking for engineers who pair technical craftsmanship with sharp product sense. Ideal candidates bring the following background:

  • Software Engineering Foundation: At least 2 years of professional experience across full-stack, backend, or frontend development, ideally working with modern web technologies such as Type Script and Node.js.
  • Data-Intensive Application Development: Proven experience designing and scaling software systems that process complex, sensitive data with absolute accuracy.
  • Customer-Centric Product Instincts: A problem-first mindset that prioritizes user outcomes and business value over unnecessary technical complexity.
  • Comfort with Ambiguity: The ability to take loosely defined problem statements and convert them into well-structured, shipped features.
  • Collaborative Execution: Clear communication around engineering tradeoffs when partnering with cross-functional teammates, paired with a bias toward shipping and iterating.
  • B2B SaaS Growth Experience (Bonus): Previous experience in a fast-scaling B2B software environment is a distinct advantage.
Compensation and Total Rewards

Pave aligns cash compensation with demonstrated interview proficiency and leveling, offering a transparent rewards package backed by $175 million in funding from investors such as Andreessen Horowitz, Index Ventures, and Y Combinator:

  • P2 Base Salary Band: $141,100 - $190,900
  • P3 Base Salary Band: $166,600 - $225,400
  • Equity: Meaningful company equity ownership.
  • Health and Wellness: Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage for you and your family.
  • Time Off: Flexible, unlimited PTO along with the freedom to work remote from anywhere in the world for up to one month per year.
  • Stipends and Growth: Daily lunch and dinner stipends, fully stocked office kitchens, robust paid parental leave, and a quarterly education stipend for ongoing learning.
Candidate Insights and Application Strategies

To distinguish your candidacy for this specialized product engineering role, consider these strategic preparation points:

  • Demonstrate Data Fluency: Compensation workflows require strict data integrity and clean contracts. Highlight past projects involving scalable Type Script architectures, intricate state management, or systems handling sensitive financial and numerical records.
  • Showcase Product Ownership: Be ready to explain how your architectural decisions solved tangible user problems. Pave values engineers who understand why a capability matters to an HR executive or manager, not just how the database is structured.
  • Discuss Pragmatic Tradeoffs: Prepare examples where you balanced code quality, scalability, and delivery speed during tight development cycles.

With applications open through December 18, 2026, this role offers an impactful opportunity to develop modern compensation infrastructure alongside an ambitious, collaborative team in New York City.
