Senior Telecommunications Software Developer

Our client, a prominent telecommunications solutions provider, is looking for a highly skilled Senior Telecommunications Software Developer to join their innovative engineering team, primarily working remotely. This role is pivotal in developing and enhancing the software that powers modern communication networks. You will be instrumental in designing, coding, testing, and deploying robust, scalable software solutions for a variety of telecommunications applications, including network management systems, signaling protocols, and data services.

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented individual with a passion for software development and a strong understanding of telecommunications principles. This is a fully remote position, offering the ultimate flexibility for candidates across Port Elizabeth and beyond.

• Design, develop, and maintain high-quality software for telecommunications systems and applications.
• Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code in languages such as C++, Java, or Python.
• Collaborate with product managers and system architects to define software requirements and specifications.
• Implement and test software modules, ensuring they meet performance, reliability, and security standards.
• Participate in code reviews to ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices.
• Troubleshoot and resolve software defects and issues in production and development environments.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of software development processes and tools.
• Develop and maintain automated testing frameworks to ensure software quality.
• Stay up-to-date with emerging software development trends and telecommunications technologies.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior developers.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field;
  Master's degree is a plus.
• Minimum of 5 years of professional software development experience, with a significant focus on telecommunications.
• Strong proficiency in one or more programming languages (e.g., C++, Java, Python).
• Solid understanding of telecommunications protocols such as SIP, SS7, Diameter, or TCP/IP.
• Experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS) and embedded systems development.
• Familiarity with network architecture, distributed systems, and cloud technologies (e.g., AWS, Azure).
• Experience with Agile development methodologies and CI/CD pipelines.
• Excellent analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities, even in a remote setting.
• Knowledge of virtualization and containerization technologies is beneficial.
