Senior Software Engineer - Java & Boot

Our client, a prominent financial technology firm based in Klerksdorp , is seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Engineer with expertise in Java and the Spring Boot framework. This role is integral to the development and enhancement of our client's core banking platforms and innovative financial solutions. You will work within a dynamic Agile environment, contributing to the entire software development lifecycle, from design and implementation to testing and deployment.

This hybrid position offers a collaborative office experience in Klerksdorp , with the flexibility of remote work days, supporting our team in the North West .

• Design, develop, and maintain robust, scalable, and high-performance Java applications using Spring Boot.
• Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code, adhering to best practices and coding standards.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers, business analysts, and other engineers, to define project requirements and technical designs.
• Develop and implement RESTful APIs for seamless integration with other systems.
• Participate in code reviews, providing constructive feedback to peers and junior developers.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve complex technical issues in development, testing, and production environments.
• Contribute to architectural discussions and technology selection.
• Implement comprehensive unit and integration tests to ensure software quality.
• Work with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and ORM frameworks (e.g., Hibernate).
• Stay updated with emerging trends and technologies in the Java ecosystem and financial services.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of professional experience in software development, with a strong focus on Java.
• Extensive experience with the Spring Boot framework and its ecosystem.
• Proficiency in developing RESTful web services and APIs.
• Solid understanding of object-oriented programming principles and design patterns.
• Experience with relational databases and SQL.
• Familiarity with build tools (Maven, Gradle) and version control systems (Git).
• Knowledge of microservices architecture is a strong advantage.
