This is a fully remote position, offering the flexibility to work from anywhere within South Africa. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and deploying robust, scalable, and high-performance backend services that power our client's cutting-edge platform. This role requires a deep understanding of backend development principles, database management, and API design.

Key Responsibilities Design, develop, and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable Python code using the Django framework. Build and optimize RESTful APIs for seamless integration with frontend applications and third-party services. Manage and interact with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL), ensuring data integrity and performance. Implement security and data protection measures within the backend infrastructure. Write comprehensive unit and integration tests to ensure code quality and stability.

Collaborate with frontend developers, product managers, and other stakeholders to define and implement new features. Participate in code reviews, providing constructive feedback to peers. Contribute to architectural discussions and help define best practices for backend development. Troubleshoot and resolve bugs and performance issues in production environments. Mentor junior backend engineers, fostering their technical growth and adherence to standards. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

5+ years of professional experience in backend development, with a strong emphasis on Python and Django. Proficiency in designing and consuming RESTful APIs. Solid experience with SQL databases and database design. Familiarity with frontend technologies (e.g., JavaScript, React) is a plus.

Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization (Docker) is beneficial. Understanding of asynchronous programming and message queues (e.g., Celery, RabbitMQ). Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills. Ability to work independently and effectively in a remote team environment. Benefits
