Job Description & How to Apply Below
Position: Graduate Engineer (remote work)

We’re looking for high-potential final-year students and recent graduates with strong problem-solving skills who can grow into outstanding technical contributors at Tux Care
. This is a paid, full-time graduate role and a first step into professional engineering. You’ll work on real products, learn alongside experienced engineers and deepen your technical skills in areas such as Linux, open-source software and security.

We’re looking for people who combine strong independent thinking with the ability to use AI confidently to tackle complex technical problems — understanding unfamiliar code, developing solutions and critically evaluating the results.

Who we are

Tux Care offers a comprehensive portfolio of security solutions for Linux and open-source software designed for enterprise organizations.

With Tux Care, companies can automate vulnerability patching, minimize downtime, maintain security and compliance, and rely on deep expertise in Linux and open-source security.

Our solutions cover widely used Linux distributions, end-of-life systems, open-source software ecosystems, and other critical infrastructure.

What you’ll do

You’ll join an engineering team working on security for Linux and open-source software. Our work includes live patching with Kernel Care
, which delivers security fixes to running Linux kernels without requiring a reboot, and open-source software supply chain security with Secure Chain
.

You don’t need prior experience in these specific areas. We’re looking for strong engineering potential — how you approach unfamiliar problems, learn quickly and use AI thoughtfully. We’ll consider your challenge results, interests and strengths alongside the opportunities available across our engineering teams.

Experienced engineers on your team will help you get to know our codebase, tools and the way we work.

Depending on the team you join, your work may include:

  • Developing and testing product features, security fixes and engineering tools.
  • Investigating unfamiliar code and understanding how different parts of a system interact.
  • Building and improving tools for verifying, testing and delivering software.
  • Automating engineering workflows.
  • Contributing to code reviews and technical discussions.
What we’re looking for:
  • Practical programming skills in at least one language, such as C, C++, Python or Go, whether from coursework, personal projects or early hands-on experience.
  • Strong analytical thinking, solid fundamentals in algorithms and data structures, and a structured approach to solving problems.
  • The ability to use AI tools to work through unfamiliar programming problems, critically assess and improve their output, and explain and test the resulting solution.
  • Curiosity, the ability to learn independently, and persistence when a solution isn’t immediately clear.
  • Care for code quality and the ability to carry a task through to a working, tested solution.
  • Clear communication and the ability to explain technical decisions.
  • English at B2 level or higher.

We’re looking for people at the very start of their engineering careers. We’re open to:

  • Final-year students.
  • Recent graduates.

This is a full-time position, including for candidates who are still completing their studies.

What may help you stand out

Any of the following can strengthen your application, although none is mandatory:

  • A degree (or final-year standing) in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent skills you can demonstrate through your projects and code.
  • Personal or academic software projects, especially ones whose design decisions you can explain.
  • Contributions to open-source projects, even small ones.
  • Participation in CTF competitions, hackathons, or a homelab you administer.
  • Evidence that you’ve taught yourself a…
