Software Engineer Summer Intern MS​/PhD, Onboard Developer Platform

• Software Engineering builds the brains of Waymo's fully autonomous driving technology. Our software allows the Waymo Driver to perceive the world around it, make the right decision for every situation, and deliver people safely to their destinations

• Understand the problem current LPM model is trying to solve along with its details
• Extend current reinforcement learning infrastructure and conduct experiments on our RL system. Tune parameters and compare with existing results
• Identify promising new RL technologies and apply on Waymo problems
• This will be a hybrid onsite internship position

Fundamental understanding of machine learning and reinforcement learning

Currently pursuing a Master's or PhD in software engineering, machine learning, or a related technical field3+ years of experience on ML or RL with hands-on projects2+ years of experience on optimizing system infrastructure ( simulation, ML/RL, or other backend systems)
Experience in working with autonomous driving or relevant technologies
