Job Summary

Dalhousie Athletics and Recreation take a holistic approach to enhancing the Dalhousian experience by creating and sharing ways to engage and connect students through physical activity and wellness, to contribute to student success. Reporting to the Director, Athletics & Recreation, Senior Manager, Strategic Engagement & Events will be focused on developing high‑quality, engaging experiences that strengthen connections with students, staff, alumni, donors, and the broader community.

Through effective event execution and stakeholder engagement, the position supports increased attendance, sustained participation, and a strong, positive brand presence for Dalhousie Athletics.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and delivery of engaging athletic experiences and recreation initiatives that build meaningful connections with students, alumni, donors, and campus partners
  • Develop and implement audience‑focused engagement strategies that strengthen participation, foster community, and deepen long‑term stakeholder relationships
  • Create inclusive, welcoming game‑day environments that promote school spirit, pride, and sustained stakeholder loyalty
  • Serve as a key liaison with internal and external partners, aligning engagement approaches with institutional goals, brand values, and relationship‑building priorities
  • Strengthen and champion a consistent, positive Dalhousie Athletics brand presence through strategic engagement and strong cross‑campus collaboration
  • Oversee on‑site event logistics and execution while actively engaging stakeholders to ensure seamless operations and a high‑quality, people‑centred experience
  • Note

    The successful applicant will be eligible for hybrid work (combination of in-person work on campus and remote work from within Nova Scotia) as agreed by all parties based on operational requirements and university guidelines.

    Required Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in communications, recreation, education or a related field with a minimum of five years’ progressive experience in an athletics, recreation, higher education, or comparable public‑sector environment (or an equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • Demonstrated experience planning and delivering large‑scale events with a strong focus on audience engagement, attendance growth, and stakeholder experience.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain effective relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders, including students, staff, alumni, donors, volunteers, and community partners.
  • Experience supervising, mentoring, and coordinating staff, volunteers, and student employees.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced, event‑driven environment.
  • Excellent communication skills and demonstrated proficiency with standard office and event‑management technologies.
