Part-time, Hourly Position

The Roeper School is where gifted students love to learn. The Shuttle/Bus Driver works during the August through June school year with the option to pick up additional hours during our seasonal summer camp season.

Schedule options include morning or afternoon shuttle runs between campuses, daytime field trips, afternoon/evening sporting events and/or weekends only. Start times for the morning shift are later since there aren’t any home based pick-ups. Schedules are provided with advance notice, so you can plan for your free time. • Responsible for safely transporting passengers in school bus to destinations including driving shuttles between school campuses, sporting events and field trips.
• Perform daily pre-trip bus inspections.
• Safely operate passenger bus in accordance with traffic laws and regulations and school policies and procedures.
• Follow pre-planned route and pre-determined time schedule.
• Maintain a secure environment by communicating policies and reporting unruly behavior to appropriate School personnel.
• Keeps the bus neat and orderly through good housekeeping.
• Monitor safety of bus equipment and report possible mechanical issues to Transportation Supervisor.
• Ensure that appropriate safety equipment is available and in working condition.
• Assist in parking lot traffic control.
• Prepare reports to document accidents or incidents.

Preference given to candidates with the following credentials. However, Roeper is willing to provide the required training to obtain bus driving credentials for the selected candidate.

• Valid Commercial Driver’s License;
  Group Designation B or C with Passenger, Safety (S) and Air Brake Endorsement with No Restrictions
• Satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record
• Compliant with Department of Transportation (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). and Alcohol Policy
• Valid DOT Medical Card
• Completion of Beginners Bus Driver Safety Course
• Driver Safety Education Course Certification

• Lower School Campus
• Middle/Upper School Campus, Bloomfield Hills and Birmingham, Michigan

The Bus Driver position offers a flexible work schedule, professional development and competitive wages. Rates from $20.00 per hour, depending on credentials and experience.
