Title: Senior Transportation Coordinator

Location: Dekalb, IL

Company: Fortune 100 Food & Beverage Manufacturing

Initial term: 3 months (position expected to run longer)

Schedule: 8am-5pm, work from home Mondays and Fridays, in office Tues/Wed/Thurs

The Senior Logistics Coordinator is responsible for transportation load planning and order management prior to shipment, as well as managing specialized recovery and ensuring on-time delivery.

• Operational Responsibilities: Execute product transportation efficiently and effectively by leveraging available tools and processes to surpass service expectations.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams , including customer service, carriers, facilities, and deployment, while maintaining a professional demeanor in all forms of communication (in‑person, phone, email, meetings, etc.).
• Demonstrate initiative and make informed decisions independently, considering customer needs, facility requirements, and carrier capacity, while escalating issues as necessary.
• Support the company’s Operational Master Plan, Continuous Excellence Initiatives, and Continuous Process Improvement efforts.
• Address and resolve conflicts and discrepancies in a positive, professional, and timely manner.
• Functional Duties for Planning: Manage planning anomalies and analyze non‑routine problems to understand underlying issues.
• Conduct final validation of plans and maintain accurate data.
• Establish connections between appointments and transit times.
• Create fully optimized freight orders.
• Perform initial carrier selection and manage exceptions (including order changes, rush requests, and accessorial validation).
• Oversee day‑to‑day carrier management.
• Functional Duties for Service: Manage on‑time pick‑up and delivery schedules.
• Track shipments in transit and identify potential risks for mitigation.
• Maintain accurate date and appointment management.
• Handle exceptions.
• Administrative Responsibilities: Foster strong working relationships with both internal and external customers.
• Communicate daily regarding successes and areas for improvement.
• Engage in continuous education regarding Transportation and Supply Chain practices.
• Handle confidential information with discretion.
• Perform other assigned tasks, which may include attending meetings, participating in projects, traveling, and undergoing training, all aimed at maximizing value for the company.

• Experience:
  • High School Diploma, with a college education preferred.
  • Requires a professional approach to internal and external customers.
  • Transportation and/or logistics experience preferred
  • Experience in a tactical and fast‑paced office environment
  • Strong customer service skills
• Skills:
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Analytical, decision‑making and good judgment is required.
