General Description / Purpose

The Global Logistics Specialist is the subject matter expert for global freight and logistics across all Loram locations worldwide. Responsible for supporting domestic and international logistics activities to deliver machines and parts in a compliant manner while meeting customer‑specific requirements. Ensures documentation, compliance, and logistics functions are executed professionally, timely, and proficiently.

Essential Job Functions Functional & Technical Skills
  • Execute timely delivery of goods and documents with accuracy and concise proofreading.
  • Act as liaison between internal customers and external logistics providers, providing quotes, arranging freight, communicating protocols, and giving instructions.
  • Monitor, track, and communicate shipment status for all machine movements and customer orders.
  • Ensure on‑time delivery throughout the logistics process.
  • Utilize appropriate shipping methods (FCL, LCL, FTL, LTL, air, intermodal, rail, ocean, etc.) to maximize service and minimize cost.
  • Support weekend emergency orders as needed.
Compliance
  • Ensure international shipments meet all regulatory and corporate guidelines.
  • Manage NAFTA and certificate of origin submission activity.
  • Coordinate efficient Canadian and Mexican border crossings for machine and spare parts moves.
  • Participate in developing and publishing internal and external procedure documents related to global logistics.
  • Keep accurate records of documentation related to international trade.
  • Code and approve freight bills for payment in Loram’s 3rd‑party freight agent system.
Required Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in business, supply chain, finance, or related field.

Experience
  • 3+ years in logistics, trade compliance, supply chain, or related fields.
  • 2+ years of International Logistics and Distribution experience dealing with customs, freight forwarders, and import/export transactions.
  • 7+ years combination of education and experience in logistics, distribution, and trade compliance.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • General understanding of complex federal import/export laws and regulations including U.S. Customs, FDA regulations, HTS, EAR, and product classification (HTS and ECCN).
  • Understanding of NAFTA and other global trade programs.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft applications and general ERP systems (IFS a plus).
  • Excellent communication skills for follow‑up and tracking shipment materials & equipment.
  • Ability to create legal documents required for shipments both inside and outside North America.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Active Customs Broker License.
  • Experience performing accurate tariff classification.
  • International experience in Brazil, India, and China markets.
  • Experience with railroad transit/logistics.
Working Conditions
  • Office desk work: sitting, walking, using phone & computer.
  • May lift up to 30 lbs. occasionally.
  • 10% or more travel, including international.
  • Can tolerate variable and sometimes challenging conditions during company equipment visits or inspections in a railroad environment.
