About પગ. the UnitThe Planning Specialist works in the Main Streets and Active Transportation Section within the Office of Multimodal Planning (OMP). The section applies land‑use and active‑transportation expertise to help communities implement safe, equitable, and low‑emission projects.
Job OverviewCDOT seeks a Planning Specialist to provide guidance on local land‑use planning practices and implement CDOT land‑use policies. You will collaborate with CDOT’s five regions, review interchange applications, and coordinate with statewide agencies on inter‑agency policy implementation.
Responsibilities- Implement land‑use and walk‑bike strategies in support of CDOT’s Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Transportation Planning Standard and other GHG goals.
- Review and track interchange requests and transportation demand‑management measures for mixed‑use and transit‑oriented development.
- Evaluate grant plateformes that include land‑use components.
- Assist in implementing new state land‑use legislation, including the Transportation Policy Barriers and Opportunities Study and identification of neighborhood centers.
- Help build active‑transportation and 10‑year plans, and conduct what‑if analyses of policy changesendelea.
- Provide direct assistance to municipal, county, and elected‑official customers with planning questions and decisions.
- Coordinate with the Corridor Planning Program Manager to synthesize best‑practice guidance for multimodal facility design
Priority. - Lead research projects on innovative data, models, or methodologies for land‑use/transportation interface improvements.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Daytime Monday‑Friday schedule, with optional flex and remote work after training.
- Occasional travel within Metro Denver (0–2 times per week).
- Public and evening meetings 0–5% of work days.
- Overnight travel 0–5% of work days throughout Colorado.
- Must operate CDOT vehicles.
- 6 years full‑time professional experience in land‑use, environmental, or transportation planning, and at least 4 years in the same or a related field.
- Or 6 years total of relevant education and experience (e.g., a bachelor’s degree in land‑use or transportation planning plus professional experience).
