We’re looking for proactive and solution driven Route & Logistics Planners to support our Waste Logistics & Collections service. This is a key role in ensuring our waste collection vehicles move safely and efficiently across the city each day.

As a Traffic Controller within our Waste Logistics & Collections service, you’ll be central to keeping Birmingham’s waste fleet moving. You’ll focus on balancing safety, efficiency and real‑time decision making to support our drivers and ensure routes run smoothly.
What you’ll be doing…
- Creating and updating daily and long‑term routes to boost efficiency and reduce fuel use
- Monitoring traffic conditions and adapting plans to keep vehicles moving
- Keeping drivers informed with timely updates and alternative routes
- Ensuring the safe movement of vehicles through residential and commercial areas
- Analysing route data to improve performance and strengthen our service
- Working closely with supervisors to enhance daily operations
- Responding quickly to incidents like breakdowns or blockages and coordinating solutions
- Maintaining accurate records of route performance and reporting key insights
- Acting as the first point of contact for drivers, dispatch teams and supervisors
