Overview of the JobWe are looking for a highly organised and experienced Dispatch and Distribution Manager to manage and coordinate daily dispatch activities in our transport and logistics network. The person who gets the job will be very important in making sure that routes are planned well, deliveries are made on time, the fleet is used properly, and UK transport rules are followed.
This job is perfect for someone who is a professional with strong leadership, operational planning, and problem‑solving skills in a fast‑paced distribution setting.
Main Duties- Oversee and manage daily dispatch and distribution operations to make sure that deliveries are made on time and at a low cost.
- Plan, arrange, and improve the routes for drivers and fleet vehicles.
- Oversee dispatch personnel, drivers, and teams who run the business.
- Keep an eye on the availability of vehicles, the performance of the fleet, and how well they are being used.
- Make sure that you follow the rules set by the DVSA, health and safety, and the road traffic laws.
- Collaborate with clients, depots, and external partners to resolve operational issues.
- Keep an eye on delivery KPIs, driver performance, and service levels.
- Address problems that arise in real‑time, such as delays, breakdowns, or route modifications.
- Keep correct records, reports, and paperwork for dispatch.
- Support ongoing efforts to make things better to boost efficiency and customer satisfaction.
- Experience managing dispatch, distribution, or transportation operations that has been shown.
- In-depth knowledge of UK road transport rules and standards for compliance.
- Great at designing routes and coordinating fleets.
- Experience in leading and managing teams.
- Ability to operate under pressure and make quick decisions.
- Good at communicating and organising.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office, scheduling tools, and transport management systems (TMS).
- A way of thinking that focuses on solving problems and paying attention to details.
