A Little More About Your Role…
WSP's Transport & Mobility team are looking to recruit a Transport Planner or an Assistant Transport Planner to join our team in Guildford, with hybrid working allowing for a mix of in-office and home working.
Responsibilities
As a Transport Planner at WSP you will have the opportunity to support a wide range of transport projects across the business. You will work across modes to develop transport strategies, policies and business cases, and support the development of transport programmes and projects from inception through to completion. This is a varied role with responsibilities including:
- Contributing to a variety of Transport Planning projects and proposals (both technical and commercial inputs,) and delivering high quality outputs in line with client requirements.
- Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team; working with our other WSP service lines to deliver large multi-disciplinary projects from concept to delivery.
- Playing a supporting role in securing and delivering work for our diverse local client portfolio.
- Contribute to the financial performance of your projects and to the commercial performance of our team.
- Making an active contribution to WSP's four key pillars (People; Clients & Growth; Operations; and Expertise).
Your Team
We undertake a wide range of transport planning technical work for our clients, as well as having an extensive portfolio of multi-disciplinary and cross-sector services, including: active travel solutions; public transport network planning; scheme development and appraisal; business case development and Government funding applications for all types of transport schemes.
Our clients include Local Authorities, National Government Organisations and orgainsations in the private sector. This provides our staff with the opportunity to work in a range of roles, across multiple disciplines, and realise their career aspirations, whatever they may be.
We have a strong regional pipeline of work and the successful applicant will help us to deliver challenging and exciting work for a range of regional and national clients.
The team are based in Guildford - in London Square, close to the London Road Train Station in Guildford.

What We Will Be Looking For You To Demonstrate…
- Prior experience in transport and mobility planning and design, and transport data analysis.
- Excellent report writing and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly to clients and colleagues.
- Experience of working with Local Authority and Combined Authority clients.
- Experience of software packages such as TRICS, Junction 10 and LinSIG.
- Understanding of project management skills developed across a range of transport and multi-disciplinary projects.
- Creative, innovative mind-set, lateral thinker.
