About the Role
Our client is seeking a strategic and analytical Regional Transport Planner to join their operations based in Port Elizabeth. This role is instrumental in designing and implementing efficient transportation strategies across the region, ensuring the timely and cost-effective movement of goods. The ideal candidate will possess strong data analysis skills, a deep understanding of logistics networks, and the ability to collaborate with various stakeholders.
This hybrid position allows for flexibility, combining essential on-site coordination with the option for remote work, enabling optimal planning and execution of regional transport initiatives.
- Develop, analyze, and optimize transportation routes and schedules to maximize efficiency and minimize costs.
- Collaborate with dispatch teams, drivers, and warehouse personnel to ensure smooth execution of transport plans.
- Monitor transportation performance against key metrics and identify areas for improvement.
- Manage relationships with third-party logistics providers, negotiating rates and ensuring service level agreements (SLAs) are met.
- Conduct feasibility studies and cost-benefit analyses for new transport initiatives and network expansions.
- Ensure adherence to all relevant transportation regulations, safety standards, and company policies.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in transportation planning , logistics, or supply chain management.
- Proficiency in transportation management systems (TMS) and route optimization software.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and generate actionable insights.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills for dealing with internal teams and external partners.
- Familiarity with the logistics landscape in the Eastern Cape region is advantageous.
- Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
