About the Role
Our client is looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Remote Fleet Dispatcher to manage and coordinate their fleet operations from a remote location, serving routes across Eastern Cape and beyond. This position is essential for ensuring the efficient and timely movement of goods, managing driver schedules, and responding to logistical challenges in real-time. You will leverage technology to maintain communication with drivers and monitor vehicle progress, playing a crucial role in maintaining operational continuity and customer satisfaction.
The ideal candidate is a strong communicator, adept at problem-solving, and comfortable working independently in a remote setting.
- Dispatch drivers for deliveries and pick-ups, optimizing routes and schedules for efficiency.
- Monitor the real-time location and status of all fleet vehicles using GPS tracking systems.
- Communicate effectively with drivers via phone, radio, or messaging systems to provide instructions and updates.
- Respond promptly to any logistical issues, delays, or emergencies, finding effective solutions.
- Maintain accurate dispatch records, including delivery times, mileage, and driver performance metrics.
- Coordinate with customers and internal teams regarding shipment status and delivery expectations.
- Previous experience as a Fleet Dispatcher, logistics coordinator, or in a similar role.
- Proficiency with fleet management software, GPS tracking systems, and communication tools.
- Excellent communication, multitasking, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to remain calm and make quick decisions under pressure.
- Must have a reliable internet connection and a dedicated home office setup for remote work.
- Strong understanding of transportation logistics and driver management principles.
