About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced Regional Transport Supervisor to manage and optimize transport operations across the Durban region. This role focuses on ensuring the efficient and safe movement of goods, managing a team of drivers, and maintaining fleet compliance. While the role is primarily remote, there may be occasional site visits required to oversee operations and engage with the team.
You will be responsible for developing strategic transport plans, monitoring performance metrics, and implementing improvements to enhance service delivery and reduce costs within the Kwa Zulu-Natal province.
Oversee daily transport operations, ensuring timely and efficient delivery of goods throughout the Kwa Zulu-Natal region.
Manage and mentor a team of drivers, including scheduling, performance monitoring, and ensuring adherence to company policies and safety standards.
Develop and implement cost-saving measures related to fuel consumption, vehicle maintenance, and route optimization.
Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for the transport department and report on findings and recommendations to senior management.
Ensure all vehicles in the fleet are compliant with South African road safety regulations and environmental standards.
Handle any transport-related incidents or emergencies, conducting investigations and implementing corrective actions as needed.
RequirementsMinimum of 3 years of experience in a supervisory role within the transportation or logistics industry.
Demonstrated experience in managing drivers and fleet operations.
Strong knowledge of Durban and surrounding logistics infrastructure.
Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
Familiarity with transport management systems and fleet maintenance best practices.
A valid driver's license is essential; professional certifications in transport management are a plus.
