Transportation Planner

Our client is looking for a strategic and analytical Transportation Planner to join their operations team, working remotely across South Africa . This role is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing efficient transportation strategies that support business objectives. You will analyze logistics data, optimize routes, select appropriate carriers, and ensure cost-effective and timely delivery of goods. The ideal candidate will possess strong quantitative skills, a deep understanding of transportation networks, and the ability to leverage technology to improve logistical outcomes, fostering a culture of data-driven decision-making and continuous optimization within the supply chain.

• Develop and optimize transportation plans, routes, and schedules to meet delivery targets and cost efficiencies.
• Analyze transportation data, including costs, transit times, and carrier performance, to identify improvement opportunities.
• Select and manage relationships with third-party logistics providers and carriers.
• Ensure compliance with transportation regulations, safety standards, and company policies.
• Collaborate with internal teams (e.g., sales, operations, warehousing) to align transportation plans with overall business goals.
• Utilize transportation management systems (TMS) and other relevant software to manage and track shipments.

• Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Proven experience in Transportation Planning or logistics management.
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with proficiency in data analysis tools.
• Familiarity with Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and related technologies.
• Excellent understanding of transportation modes, regulations, and industry best practices.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to manage relationships with carriers and internal stakeholders remotely.
