Fleet Manager - Strategic Transport Solutions

Our client is seeking a seasoned Fleet Manager to lead and optimize their diverse vehicle fleet operations in the vibrant city of Cape Town, Western Cape, ZA . This role is critical for ensuring the efficiency, safety, and compliance of our fleet, which is essential for our service delivery. The Fleet Manager will be responsible for the overall management, maintenance, and strategic deployment of all vehicles, working within a hybrid model that balances essential on-site oversight with the flexibility of remote work.

You will be instrumental in driving cost-effective fleet solutions, implementing innovative technologies, and fostering a culture of safety and responsibility among drivers and maintenance staff. • Develop and implement comprehensive fleet management policies and procedures.
• Oversee the acquisition, maintenance, and disposal of all vehicles in the fleet.
• Manage the operational budget for the fleet, ensuring cost-efficiency and adherence to financial targets.
• Ensure all vehicles comply with relevant road safety regulations and environmental standards.
• Implement and monitor telematics and GPS tracking systems to enhance efficiency and safety.
• Manage relationships with vehicle suppliers, maintenance workshops, and insurance providers.
• Conduct regular vehicle inspections and performance reviews.
• Develop and implement driver training programs focused on safe and efficient operation.
• Analyze fleet data to identify trends, optimize routes, and reduce operational costs.
• Respond to and manage vehicle breakdowns and accident incidents.

• Minimum of 7 years of experience in fleet management or a related field.
• Proven track record of managing large and diverse vehicle fleets.
• Strong understanding of vehicle maintenance, repair, and lifecycle management.
• Excellent knowledge of transportation laws, regulations, and compliance requirements.
• Proficiency in fleet management software and systems.
• Exceptional leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage budgets and negotiate with vendors effectively.
• Experience with implementing safety programs and reducing accident rates.
• A degree in Logistics, Business Administration, or a relevant technical field is preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to adapt to evolving fleet technologies and operational demands.
