Job Description

To support this mission, Syngenta's NA Crop Protection Human Resources team is looking for a Seedcare Application Specialist in Plattsville, Ontario.

THIS IS AN 18-MONTH CONTRACT POSITION

Accountabilities
  • Collaborate with formulation development, engineering, production and supply teams, and other stakeholders to perform application testing, robust fitness for use testing, and formulation evaluation to ensure our products meet customers' requirements and can be successfully applied.
  • Generate high-quality technical reports and evaluations in support of product regulatory submission and new product introduction and alert key stakeholders of findings.
  • Prepare formulation and application-related portions of product labels, including directions for use.
  • Provide technical support to commercial teams in addressing product service inquiries and generating innovative technical content to promote application best practices campaigns.
  • Work with product marketing and technical development colleagues to find opportunities to differentiate and position our products for sustained competitive advantage.
  • Identify and evaluate new and emerging seed treatment, application, and product handling technologies.
  • Provide administrative support to the site teams for equipment, systems, protocol training, summer intern training, and in the coordination of site tours.
  • Develop, implement, and follow SOPs, JSAs and best practices for formulation evaluation, application testing, and related equipment and ensure all activities are carried out in accordance with Syngenta's HS&E guidelines and best practices.
  • Safely and proficiently carry out laboratory-based and seed treatment experiments, protocols, and testing.
  • Monitor and maintain application testing equipment and testing spaces.
  • Maintain high-quality and complete written and digital records according to best practices and guidelines.
  • Participate in, and contribute to regional Seedcare groups, meetings, and initiatives.
Qualifications
  • B.Sc. or M.Sc. in a science or engineering discipline such as Chemical Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, Agronomy, Applied Biology, Chemistry, or other Agricultural discipline.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in the development or evaluation of seed treatment products or related formulations.
  • A high level of proficiency in, and understanding of, laboratory techniques and the operation of laboratory equipment, application testing equipment, and scientific investigation methodologies.
  • An aptitude for the use and operation of mechanical equipment.
  • Technical knowledge as it relates to the use and registration of seed treatment and crop protection products in Canada and North America.
  • Interpersonal skills are required to communicate, advise, delegate, negotiate or influence others and build productive working relationships.
  • A team player, collaborator, and stakeholder.
  • Analytical skills to interpret and summarize scientific data and information.
  • Planning and time management skills to organize, prioritize, schedule and coordinate work activities for multiple projects.
  • Ability to independently operate and conduct basic maintenance of application testing and formulation evaluation equipment.
  • Have and continue to develop a general understanding of local and general agronomy, and grower production practices, including seed treatment and application technology.
