Looking for a rewarding job helping to serve the Ontario community? The City of Ontario’s Recreation & Community Services Department has an excellent part-time opportunity for highly motivated individuals to provide programming at a city park, community center, or other recreational areas within the City.
The Senior Recreation Leader will be expected to plan, organize, and lead recreational programs, special events, and activities such as sports, games, and arts and crafts; maintain accurate records, data entry, and process registrations; inspect facilities for safety and preparing reports. Other responsibilities for this position may include explaining policies to staff and volunteers and assisting in their training and evaluation;
overseeing events, field trips, activity areas, and the use and maintenance of recreation supplies and equipment.
The Senior Recreation Leader is a part-time/temporary position, scheduled to work no more than 29 hours per week, and is not eligible to participate in the City s health insurance or retirement plans. Work schedule is determined by availability, operating hours and the incumbent s skill level in this position.
Eligibility Procedures- Separate Promotional and Open (external) Eligibility Lists will be established.
- The Promotional Eligibility List will be comprised of current City employees (full or part-time) who meet the minimum qualifications and successfully complete any required selection processes.
- The Open Eligibility List will consist of external applicants who meet the minimum qualifications and successfully complete any required selection processes.
- The hiring department will consider the Promotional Eligibility List prior to considering candidates on the Open Eligibility List.
The City of Ontario s Recreation & Community Services Department provides opportunities for wholesome, year-round public recreational services for every age group in the City of Ontario. Through a comprehensive array of programs and events, the Department continually strives to meet the City Council s goal to provide enhanced recreational, educational, and cultural activities to the community. The Department operates six community centers, a senior center, provides programming in over thirty parks, three dog parks, and oversees the management of a municipal golf course.
The Recreation & Community Services Department is growing! In the next couple of years, the Department will oversee the development of a 150+ acre premiere regional sports complex; the building of the first phase (approximately 130 acres) of the Grand Park in Ontario Ranch; enhancing park amenities throughout the City; and putting plans in place to add new community centers throughout the City.
