Shipping Loader

Encorr Sheets, an affiliate of Schwarz Partners and corrugated manufacturing industry leader, is currently seeking Shipping Loaders at our state of the art facility in Ontario, CA. As a Shipping Loader, you will be responsible for ensuring all units are banded properly and have a clearly visible load tag on them when being loaded, that there are no broken or missing straps on the units, and that staging units in the warehouse load & unload trailers in a safe and efficient manner.

The position will also perform a visual quality inspection on items and ensure that units and truck counts are accurate, on the correct trailer & carrier, and that all paperwork is accurate. This position performs our last visual quality inspection of all items loaded & unloaded. You will be responsible for operating a sit‑down propane forklift throughout your entire shift.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS FOR THIS POSITION
  • Operate a sit‑down propane forklift safely & effectively.
  • Keep up, taking product off the out‑feed line, staging it neatly on the floor, and picking it up and loading it neatly and securely in a trailer.
  • Scan all units to trailer.
  • Follow proper procedures for staging units, loading units, and handling overruns.
  • Read and understand order instructions and load tags; understand unitizing and palletizing information & corrugator flutes so product can be loaded properly per customer‑specific instructions.
  • Do basic math, know trailer size, and read a tape measure to utilize trailers to max MSF per truck.
  • Understand shipment planning, documentation, & the importance of only having one partial order on a truck.
  • Organize the dock to eliminate units from small orders being mixed with large orders, ensure scrap is picked up and weighed, particle units are banded, and load scrap bales in proper trucks.
  • Raise and lower dock plates, safeguard with chain for dock doors, and report any damage.
  • Be proficient in using chocks, glad‑hand locks, and lock‑out when straight trucks are being used.
  • Follow all safety rules, perform forklift inspections, and report any defects immediately.
  • Work as a team and maintain good working relationships with other employees.
  • Comprehend instructions given by supervisors.
  • Communicate job status, problems, and adjustments to other shift employees.
  • Follow all safety and company policies, including maintaining good housekeeping, reporting issues, accidents, or incidents immediately; complete online safety training each month as assigned.
  • Handle forklift responsibly and maintain it in good shape.
  • Maintain exemplary attendance; work flexible or extended hours as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
PREFERRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
  • GED or high school diploma.
  • Corrugated experience.
REQUIRED SKILLS (TECHNICAL, CLERICAL, LANGUAGE, ETC.)
  • Minimum of 2 years of recent experience operating a sit‑down propane forklift in a warehouse and/or shipping environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Basic math skills and ability to read a tape measure.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • Operate industrial truck while seated for extended periods.
  • Constant standing, talking, hearing, and walking.
  • Frequent stooping, bending, twisting, turning, and maintaining balance.
  • Occasional kneeling and reaching over the shoulder; simple grasping, pushing, and pulling.
  • Lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, distance vision, depth perception, and peripheral vision.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts.
  • Frequent exposure to wet and/or humid conditions.
  • Occasional exposure to high precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, vibration; noise level usually loud.
