Position: AYP Summer Camp Staff (2026)

The Office of Professional and Continuing Education is home to Auburn Youth Programs which operates academic, athletic, cheer, and dance summer camps for over 4,000 high school students throughout the summer. Camp staff will help Auburn Youth Programs bring our summer camps to life and perform behind the scenes tasks to help campers have a unique experience at Auburn University.

Essential Functions

A successful Auburn Youth Programs Staff Member will be an Auburn student with a passion for impacting and serving youth. We’re looking for an individual that will work behind the scenes to support the smooth and safe operation of all AYP camps and programs and ensure an extraordinary Auburn Experience for camp participants. Staff are allowed to take classes but must work a minimum of 20 hours per week.

As a successful AYP Staff Member, you will
:

  • Prepare & Communicate: Work in the AYP office to prepare for summer camps; packing camper bags, sorting keys, etc., ensuring everything runs smoothly while maintaining communication with Auburn faculty, staff, and other campus partners.
  • Collaborate & Assist: Work closely with the Client Camp Coordinator and Lead Staff to ensure that camp operations align seamlessly. Assist with check-in, check-out processes, distributing camp materials, and any logistical tasks required.
  • Hands-On Participation: Serve as an active participant in camp preparation. Be flexible and self-sufficient predicting tasks that need to be done.
  • Auburn Spirit: Welcome guests to campus and demonstrate the Auburn spirit, fostering a positive, engaging environment throughout the summer.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to all AYP and Auburn University regulations regarding minors and safety.
  • Training: Attend counselor training prior to the start of the camps (tentatively scheduled for the week of May 11th).
  • Additional Responsibilities: Take on any other responsibilities as assigned, ensuring the camps operate smoothly.
  • Meet students and staff from across the U.S., creating lasting memories and friendships while working in an exciting, dynamic environment.
  • Lunch provided at The Edge when campers are present.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Have attended Auburn University for at least one year
    • Enrolled and taking classes during the semester of employment;
    • or
    • Not enrolled in classes for the semester of employment, but enrolled in the previous semester and enrolled for the following semester.
  • Be in good academic standing
  • Be at least 19 years old on June 1, 2026, pass a background check, and possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Must have the patience, understanding, flexibility, and energy to work with campers, counselors, and other staff
  • Must be willing to sacrifice, adapt, and work hard as part of a team
  • Must be able to display a positive attitude at all times
  • Serve as an ambassador for Auburn University and role model for all persons they encounter
