Position: GF1 Utility Operator

Position Summary

Duties to include, but not limited to, monitoring air compressors and steam generators. Performs daily walk‑through inspections of facility equipment and grounds, noting abnormalities, entering work orders, and making on‑the‑spot repairs. Coordinates with production to gather all recycling from the building and prep it for shipment, and works with facilities to accomplish repairs to grounds and facilities as assigned. Must be capable of obtaining a forklift operator license, working inside and outside in both hot and cold environments, and consistently lift 50 pounds throughout the shift.

Functions

• Adheres to safety, food safety, quality and legal compliance.
• Knowledgeable in PPE, OSHA, MSDS, lock‑out/tag‑out, GMP, SSOP, and HACCP.
• Perform all work in accordance with environmental, health and safety standards, rules, regulations and practices of the facility.
• Must be able to pass training/certifications as required for qualification.
• Observe and analyze equipment performance and report any problems to the supervisor.
• Keep area clean and free of safety hazards.
• Document completed work as required by the supervisor.
• Compliance with all other duties as assigned.

Required Education / Experience

• High school diploma or GED.

Supervisory Responsibilities

• None.

Language Skills

• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• Ability to write simple correspondence.

Mathematical Skills

• Ability to use mathematical functions including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division in accordance with production paperwork.
• Ability to perform these operations using units of weight measurement, volume, and distance.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to wear personal protective equipment and/or clothing.
• Stand/walk 7 or more hours per day.
• Constantly talk/hear throughout the day.
• Constantly use eye/hand coordination.
• Frequently bend and use eye/hand/foot coordination.
• Frequently lift and carry less than 5 lbs at waist height handling patties or moving empty boxes up to 10 feet.
• Occasionally squat, grip/grasp, use fine motor tasks and handle/finger.
• Occasionally lift and carry up to 50 lbs at waist height when moving patty boxes up to 15 feet.
• Push patty boxes requiring up to 50 lbs of force 3 feet.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and color vision.

Environmental / Atmospheric Conditions

• Constantly work in damp, wet, humid and slippery environments.
• Constantly work near moving equipment in extreme heat/cold (40‑45 degrees).
• Constantly work in high noise levels requiring hearing protection.
• Frequently exposed to fumes or airborne debris.
• Occasionally work with toxic or caustic chemicals.
• Occasionally exposed to segmental vibration.

Machines / Tools / Equipment / Software

• Bump cap, hair net, safety glasses, hearing protection, and smock.
• Rubber and cotton gloves.
