Position Summary:
Oversees and facilitates process optimization, equipment enhancement, qualification, and technology transfer of product and processes in the assigned dosage form. Provides technical subject matter expertise in areas of responsibility and leads a team of engineers to establish a strong foundation and process mastery for which continuous improvement of quality, reliability, and cost can be made. Commercializes new products in our manufacturing facilities and ensures a smooth and complete transition of technical knowledge to appropriate groups.
Responsibilities:
- Sets high expectations and organizes work and resources to get the most out of the team while maximizing business impact.
- Creates an inclusive environment and fosters a continuous learning mentality centered around developing the team through frequent coaching and feedback.
- Develops a deep understanding of the product portfolio, owns assigned form throughout its lifecycle, and applies a continuous improvement mindset.
- Demonstrates a high level of subject matter expertise for the assigned dosage form and is capable of leading internal and external groups to make improvements to quality, reliability, and cost.
- Works closely with Operations Finance to identify and justify improvements and implement initiatives related to margin enhancement in the assigned dosage form.
- Develops metrics that report the effectiveness of processes against performance objectives and translates them to business results
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Education:
- Requires a four-year college or university degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Pharmacy, Food Science or related field.
Certification:
- Lean Manufacturing, or related problem-solving tools a plus.
Experience:
- Minimum five years in engineering, process development, manufacturing technical support or quality engineering experience required.
- Preferred experience in Pharmaceutical, nutritional or related industry is required.
- Preferred two years’ experience in a Supervisory or Managerial type role.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Comprehensive knowledge of product and process development, manufacturing/packaging equipment, process/testing laboratory techniques and regulatory requirements.
- Able to effectively organize and develop plans; prioritize and execute actions.
- The ability to make presentations and recommendations in assigned areas.
- Expertise in process validation and cleaning validation protocols – IQ/OQ/PQ.
- Working knowledge of GMP’s, SOP’s, CAPA, auditing, and other Quality procedures.
- Well-developed oral and written communication skills.
- Self-starter with assertive project ownership qualities.
- Intellectually curious with continuous improvement approach to challenges.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work for a supervisor who works in a different location.
- Can build relationships, and lead others across a range of disciplines.
- Good critical thinking, deductive reasoning, and decision-making skills.
- Word processing and spreadsheet capabilities.
Physical Requirements:
- General office environment. Ability to move about production areas.
- Travel is expected to be up to 20%.

- The candidate must be able to perform this job safely in accordance with standard operating procedures and good manufacturing practices, without endangering the health or safety of self or others.
Supervisory Responsibility:
- Incumbent has direct supervisory responsibility for one to eight employees.
