NURSING SUPERVISOR - 5TH STEPDOWN/ICU UNIT EAMC MISSION

At East Alabama Medical Center, our mission is high quality, compassionate health care, and that statement guides everything we do. We set high standards for customer service, quality, and keeping costs under control.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Nursing Supervisor provides clinical and operational leadership for two high-acuity areas: the Neuroscience Specialty Unit (NSU) and the Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU). This role ensures excellence in patient care delivery, supports nursing practice aligned with organizational and professional standards, and fosters a culture of collaboration, safety, innovation, and continuous improvement.

Working closely with the Unit Manager (UM), the Nursing Supervisor shares 24-hour responsibility for unit operations, clinical quality, and the achievement of strategic goals. Together, they coordinate staffing, oversee performance improvement initiatives, and mentor nursing staff to promote professional growth and high-quality patient outcomes.

The Nursing Supervisor actively supports budget and resource management, policy and procedure development, and committee participation, while maintaining clinical competency to provide direct patient care as needed.
