Overview

All about Target:
Working at Target means helping all families discover the joy of everyday life. This role is part of a flexible On‑Demand team with a schedule that varies by shift availability and store needs.

All About On Demand

You can work as much or as little as you like as an On‑Demand Team Member (TM). You will not be on the posted weekly schedule; instead you create your schedule by picking up shifts posted by leaders or team members via the myTime app. Attendance and engagement are essential, including picking up shifts at least once every 4 weeks (minimum four hours).

If not responsive to scheduling attempts or if you fail to work a shift within 5 months, employment may be terminated. A Welcome orientation and short‑term training are required, after which you use the myTime app to pick shifts.

All About Service & Engagement

Guest Advocates welcome, thank, and exceed guest service expectations by focusing on guest interaction, loyalty enrollment, and store cleanliness. They support in-store and digital services and solutions, drive adoption of capabilities, and empower quick shopping at checklanes, guest services, gift registry, pick-up, and drive up while maintaining high quality.

Typical responsibilities for a Guest Advocate may include:

  • Demonstrate a service culture that prioritizes the guest experience and deliver service standards.
  • Greet guests as you complete daily tasks and assist with their needs in a welcoming manner.
  • Know the tools, products, and services available to resolve guest issues and improve their experience.
  • Scan and bag items efficiently and in compliance with safety standards and company practices.
  • Minimize guest wait time while maintaining service and accuracy.
  • Inform guests about current and upcoming brand launches, store activities, and events.
  • Explain and assist with Target Loyalty programs and all fulfillment services, directing guests to enroll or use them as needed.
  • Explain app features (e.g., Wallet) and assist with related needs.
  • Handle returns per policy, escalating to leaders as required.
  • De-escalate situations and recover guest shopping experiences per policy.
  • Provide service for Order Pick Up, Drive Up, and Registry guests.
  • Maintain a clean, organized work area and stock supplies during open hours.
  • Adhere to safety policies and training; report hazards and take corrective action where possible.
  • Support guest services such as order pickup, drive-up orders, and related tasks while complying with applicable laws (e.g., alcohol laws).
  • Assist with cash office processes as needed.
  • Other duties as required by business needs.
