Ryder System, Inc. is immediately hiring a Permanent Full Time Experienced Mid-Level Diesel Technician to support our Truck Fleet at Ryder in Opelika, Alabama.

• Hourly Pay: $24.45 per hour
• Certification Bonus: $100 for each New ASE Certification up to $700
• Quarterly Bonus: up to $500 each quarter
• Sign On Bonus: $1250 at 30 days and $1250 at 90 days
• Schedule:
  
  Monday–Friday Weekends OFF
• Hours:
  
  First Shift 7:30 am – 4:00 pm

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Vocational or Technical Certification / Post Secondary degree or Technical Certifications preferred
• Basic tools required
• Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine preventative maintenance, oil changes, brake and tire work, etc.
• Two (2) years or more of classroom training and work experience preferred
• Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A preferred
• Must be able to obtain a CDL within 6 months after hire
• Pass a Ryder drug test, DOT physical, Ryder road test, and background checks

• Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties
• Perform standard vehicle maintenance, component inspections, and repairs
• Perform preventive maintenance
• Diagnose mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computers
• Identify root causes of failures and perform repairs as required
• Replace defective components as instructed
• Maintain the facility and equipment
• Interact with customers/drivers to determine complaints
• Use shop management system and EDI documentation
• Comply with federal, provincial, and corporate safety and regulatory guidelines
• Perform other support duties as required, such as Service Island support
