Diesel Mechanic
Ryder System, Inc. is immediately hiring a Permanent Full Time Experienced Mid-Level Diesel Technician to support our Truck Fleet at Ryder in Opelika, Alabama.
Key Details- Hourly Pay: $24.45 per hour
- Certification Bonus: $100 for each New ASE Certification up to $700
- Quarterly Bonus: up to $500 each quarter
- Sign On Bonus: $1250 at 30 days and $1250 at 90 days
- Schedule:
Monday–Friday Weekends OFF - Hours:
First Shift 7:30 am – 4:00 pm

Requirements- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Vocational or Technical Certification / Post Secondary degree or Technical Certifications preferred
- Basic tools required
- Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine preventative maintenance, oil changes, brake and tire work, etc.
- Two (2) years or more of classroom training and work experience preferred
- Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A preferred
- Must be able to obtain a CDL within 6 months after hire
- Pass a Ryder drug test, DOT physical, Ryder road test, and background checks
- Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties
- Perform standard vehicle maintenance, component inspections, and repairs
- Perform preventive maintenance
- Diagnose mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computers
- Identify root causes of failures and perform repairs as required
- Replace defective components as instructed
- Maintain the facility and equipment
- Interact with customers/drivers to determine complaints
- Use shop management system and EDI documentation
- Comply with federal, provincial, and corporate safety and regulatory guidelines
- Perform other support duties as required, such as Service Island support
