Overview

Immediately hiring a Permanent Full Time Experienced Mid-Level Diesel Technician to support our Truck Fleet at Ryder in Opelika, Alabama.

Compensation
  • Hourly Pay: $24.45 per hour
  • Certification Bonus: $100 for each New ASE Certification up to $700
  • Quarterly Bonus:
    Up to $500 every quarter
  • Sign On Bonus: $1250 at 30 days and $1250 at 90 days
  • Schedule:

    Monday–Friday, Weekends OFF
  • Hours:

    First Shift 7:30 am – 4:00 pm

Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Vocational or technical certification post-secondary degree or technical certifications, preferred
  • Basic tools required
  • Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine preventative maintenance (oil changes, brake and tire work)
  • Two (2) years or more of a combination of classroom training and work experience preferred
  • Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A, preferred
  • Must be able to obtain CDL within 6 months after hire
  • Pass a Ryder drug test, DOT physical, Ryder road test, and background/Motor Vehicle check
Responsibilities
  • Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties
  • Perform standard vehicle maintenance, component inspections, repairs, and preventive maintenance
  • Diagnose standard mechanical and electronic problems, utilizing computer applicable
  • Identify root cause of basic failures and perform repairs as required
  • Replace defective components as instructed
  • Perform facility maintenance duties
  • Interact with customers/drivers to determine nature of complaint once assigned a task
  • Utilize key functions of Shop Management System and electronic documentation available
  • Work in accordance with all federal, provincial, and corporate compliance guidelines (safety, DOT, MOT)
  • Perform other support duties as required to support operations, including Service Island support
