Overview
Immediately hiring a Permanent Full Time Experienced Mid-Level Diesel Technician to support our Truck Fleet at Ryder in Opelika, Alabama.
Compensation- Hourly Pay: $24.45 per hour
- Certification Bonus: $100 for each New ASE Certification up to $700
- Quarterly Bonus:
Up to $500 every quarter - Sign On Bonus: $1250 at 30 days and $1250 at 90 days
- Schedule:
Monday–Friday, Weekends OFF - Hours:
First Shift 7:30 am – 4:00 pm
- Annual Merit Pay Increases every year

Requirements- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Vocational or technical certification post-secondary degree or technical certifications, preferred
- Basic tools required
- Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine preventative maintenance (oil changes, brake and tire work)
- Two (2) years or more of a combination of classroom training and work experience preferred
- Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A, preferred
- Must be able to obtain CDL within 6 months after hire
- Pass a Ryder drug test, DOT physical, Ryder road test, and background/Motor Vehicle check
- Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties
- Perform standard vehicle maintenance, component inspections, repairs, and preventive maintenance
- Diagnose standard mechanical and electronic problems, utilizing computer applicable
- Identify root cause of basic failures and perform repairs as required
- Replace defective components as instructed
- Perform facility maintenance duties
- Interact with customers/drivers to determine nature of complaint once assigned a task
- Utilize key functions of Shop Management System and electronic documentation available
- Work in accordance with all federal, provincial, and corporate compliance guidelines (safety, DOT, MOT)
- Perform other support duties as required to support operations, including Service Island support
