PRE-EMPLOYMENT DRUG TEST AND BACKGROUND CHECK REQUIRED(HB 402 ACT 99-361 Alabama Legislature)
REPORTS TO- Bus Shop Supervisor
- Transportation Director
- Superintendent
To maintain all district vehicles in a state of operation that prohibits interruptions to the educational program and to serve as substitute for bus drivers when needed.
Performance Responsibilities- Responsible for the maintenance, repair and inspection of all vehicles.
- Maintain a current inventory of supplies and equipment.
- Keep an accurate log of all inspections/repairs and prepare reports as needed.
- Serve as route driver in emergencies.
- Promote high standards of safety and good housekeeping methods in all work-connected areas.
- Perform any other pertinent assignment assigned by the Bus Shop Supervisor, Transportation Director and/or the Superintendent to assist in the efficiency and effectiveness of the Bus Shop.
- Must comply with all employment criteria legally established by the Opelika City School Board of Education.
- Requires a current Alabama School Bus Driver Examination.
- Interpersonal skills:
Demonstrates the ability to communicate well with others. - Demonstrates aptitude for successful completion of the assigned task.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with "P" and "S" endorsements required; be insurable for vehicle operation. (within 6 months of employment)
- Certification by the State of Alabama Department of Transportation required. (within 6 months of employment)
- Mechanic Certification required by the Alabama State Department of Education. (within 6 months of employment)
- Ability to lift a minimum of 75 pounds.
- Tuberculosis clearance as required by Opelika City Schools.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation of Support Personnel.
Duty Days: 243
Salary Range:
From $32,780.00 to $40,283.00. Salary for the remaining school year will be prorated.
