The Simulation and Skills Lab Operations Specialist supports the educational objectives and missions of the Nursing and Allied Health Programs of the College by facilitating simulations and assisting with skills lab requirements. Primary responsibilities include the integration, maintenance and operation of simulation and skills lab technology, as well as assisting faculty with educating students in the laboratory setting.

Salary:
Compensation will be on LBW L (Local) Salary Schedule at a rate of $ 53,000 annually.

This position involves performance duties for a grant‑funded project and is contingent on continued funding. In the event that funds for this position are discontinued or significantly reduced, or if requirements for funding this project no longer include this position, the College shall have the right to discontinue the position. Neither tenure nor non‑probationary status may be attained in this position.

Develop technical proficiency with all aspects of the operation, maintenance, support, troubleshooting, and repair of all simulation and associated equipment.

Assist with the design and organization of simulation and skills labs.

Assist in the organization and monitoring of inventory in the simulation and skills lab to ensure ongoing adequacy of supplies, equipment and learning resources.

Set‑up and break‑down equipment and supplies needed for simulation and skills labs and assist faculty in creating lab experiences that are realistic and promote evidence‑based teaching and learning.

Assemble, test, calibrate, clean, and make minor repairs to lab equipment to ensure readiness for use. Must be able to communicate with equipment manufacturers for technical support involving troubleshooting equipment and system problems.

Collaborate with faculty to maintain the continuity of the curriculum and promote effective working relationships.

Assist faculty with accomplishing educational objectives for students which may include student interaction and demonstration of skills with the oversight of the faculty.

Orient faculty to equipment and learning resources.

Assist with providing simulation continuing education to faculty at all program locations.

Assist with the production of lab orientation and promotionalvideos.

Be able to lift and/or carry such items such as manikins, supplies, files, and books up to fifty pounds.

Flexibility to work at any campus location as needed.

Participate in scheduled college, committee, and departmental meetings as assigned.

Model professional standards of behavior, including collaboration, communication, excellence, dress code, and attendance.

Demonstrate commitment in maintaining nursing accreditation standards.

Participate in professional development, compliance, performance excellence, and training activities as required

Perform other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Be able to lift and move objects weighing up to fifty pounds; sit and stand for extended periods; ascend and descend steps; bend; kneel; and reach.
Perform night and weekend duties when needed.

Minimum of an Associate Degree in Nursing from an accredited institution and an active, unencumbered license as a registered nurse in the State of Alabama or an unencumbered multistate license in the compact is required. Minimum of two years of full‑time clinical experience as a registered nurse is required.
