Job Summary:

Provide professional nursing care to residents, following established policies, regulations, and standards of practice on an assigned unit, and assure resident safety.

Core Competencies/Essential Functions And Responsibilities:
  • Provide nursing care in accordance with physician orders and established plan of care to ensure continuity and meet the individual needs of the resident while assuring resident safety at all times.
  • Safely administer medications and treatments in accordance with recognized standards of practice including infection control.
  • Supervise CNA staff to ensure facility policies and procedures are followed, and all regulations are adhered to.
  • Oversee CNA assignments, ensuring duties are completed efficiently and timely.
  • Assist residents and families with concerns, issues, and grievances.
  • Assist with admissions/discharges, perform assessments/evaluations as necessary.
  • Observe residents for changes in condition, notify physicians of any changes, incidents, injuries, or unusual events, and request orders as needed.
  • Document changes of condition, incidents, injuries, or unusual events in medical records.
  • Transcribe physician orders and assist with monthly reviews.
  • Participate in required educational programs and competency evaluations.
  • Other Functions And Responsibilities:
  • Ensure resident safety at all times.
  • Assist during disasters as needed.
  • Perform additional duties including resident nurse duties after hours, on weekends, and holidays.
  • Manage time to minimize overtime.
  • Work indoors and outdoors during events.
  • Handle awkward positions, work in cramped spaces, and wear safety gear as needed.
  • Handle hazardous waste following infection control procedures.
  • Educational, Physical, And Other Requirements:
  • Must be a licensed nurse in good standing with Florida.
  • Ability to perform essential functions with or without accommodations; physical requirements include frequent use of hands, reaching, talking, hearing, lifting, standing, walking, sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and smelling. Vision abilities required include close, distant, color, peripheral, and depth perception, and focus adjustment.
  • Must be able to read, write, and communicate verbally in English.
  • Maintain regular attendance.
  • Meet health regulations and post-offer physical exam requirements.
  • Ability to lift/move up to 50 pounds.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Maintain professional and respectful demeanor with residents, families, guests, and staff.
