Job Summary
:
To provide routine nursing care in accordance with established policies and procedures and in compliance with state and federal regulations, and to assure resident safety.

Core Competencies/Essential Functions And Responsibilities
  • Provide nursing care/personal hygiene to an assigned group of residents or other residents as needed at the direction of the charge nurse or supervisor ensuring that residents are appropriately dressed, and are clean and presentable.
  • Receive assignment and review CNA Care Plan at the beginning of the shift and as needed assuring resident safety at all times.
  • Make rounds to assure residents are clean, comfortable and not in any distress and report any adverse findings to the charge nurse immediately.
  • Complete necessary documentation accurately prior to the end of the shift.
  • Encourage resident to function at the highest level of independence, providing assistance or use of supportive devices when ordered. Encourage residents to participate in activities and social functions, assist with transportation as needed.
  • Adhere to infection control guidelines according to established infection control policies and procedures.
  • Maintain the residents’ room and bathroom in a neat and orderly fashion keep environment clean and safe. Keep hallways free of clutter. Ensure that wheelchair legs are properly stored in the residents’ closet when not in use.
  • Assist with admissions, transfers and discharges as requested and according to facility policy.
  • Attend education, in‑services, and communication meetings as required by facility policy or state and federal regulations.
  • Assist residents with hydration and nutritional intake as outlined in residents care plan including providing fresh ice water during shift.
Other Functions And Responsibilities
  • Assist with orientation of new employees, providing support and direction. Communicate to charge nurse any additional training needs identified.
  • Participate in the Restorative Nursing program as directed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Working Conditions
  • Usually works indoors but can be required to work outside during events and parties.
  • May have to get into awkward positions or work in cramped spaces.
  • May be exposed to loud noises or sounds that are distracting.
  • May be exposed to diseases or infections from contact with residents or other staff members.
  • Often exposed to contaminants.
  • May sometimes need to wear safety gear such as gloves and/or masks.
  • May have to handle hazardous waste in accordance with infection control procedures.
Educational, Physical, And Other Requirements
  • Must pass Level 2 background screening through the Florida Clearinghouse (Learn more: )
  • Employee must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodations, Physical requirements may include frequent use of hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear. The employee may be required to lift, stand, walk, sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl and smell.

    Vision abilities may require close vision, distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
  • For the safety and security of our residents and employees must be able to read, write, and verbally communicate in English, which is the most universally used language of our residents and employee population.
  • Must be able to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Requires standing for long periods of time and frequent walking.
  • Must be a certified nursing assistant in good standing with the State of Florida.
  • Must be capable of maintaining regular attendance.
  • Must meet all local health regulations and post offer physical exam.
  • Current CPR certification.
Customer/Guest Relations & Communications
  • Must maintain a professional, respectful, friendly demeanor with all residents, family members, guests, and staff at all times.
