Job Summary

The Ophthalmic Tester is able to handle a wide range of duties while using equipment to perform the initial testing needed to prepare a patient for an exam.

Responsibilities
  • Complete all the testing for OCT, anterior segment photography, Visual Field, Fundus photography
  • Upload any results of imaging and testing
  • Scanning documents, prior authorizations, other paperwork into patients’ chart
  • Verifying letters (Diabetes, Plaquenil, Referral, etc.) have been sent to appropriate Doctor from previous day, and if not sending the letter
  • Calling for labs (Quest) when needed when scribe is unavailable
  • Recalls in-between patients and downtime
  • Interact with all patients using a high level of respect and professionalism
  • Comply with HIPPA confidentiality standards when accessing or communicating patient information
Requirements
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to interact with patients and employees in a courteous, professional manner at all times
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to multi-task and function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment
Education and Experience

High School Diploma or equivalent

Minimum one year of experience in a medical practice or hospital setting preferred

Experience in an ophthalmology practice preferred

Physical Requirements
  • Frequent bending, reaching, and repetitive hand movements (specifically keyboarding and writing),
  • standing, walking, squatting and sitting, with some lifting, pushing and pulling up to 10 pounds.

Travel to other offices, including Surgery Center, as needed
