Coastal Health is seeking a motivated, career-oriented Referral Coordinator to join our growing corporate team in Orange Park, FL. This position is ideal for an individual who thrives in a fast‑paced healthcare environment, is detail‑oriented, and enjoys working directly with patients, staff, and providers. The Referral Coordinator will manage both inbound and outbound referrals while ensuring an excellent patient experience.
Position OverviewThe Referral Coordinator is responsible for coordinating patient referrals, verifying insurance, assisting with scheduling, and serving as a liaison between patients, providers, and internal departments. The ideal candidate has advanced knowledge of insurance verification and demonstrates strong communication and organizational skills.
Key Responsibilities- Assist patients via phone.
- Serve as the primary liaison for patient referral coordination, scheduling, and practice support.
- Maintain smooth patient flow by coordinating referrals and appointments.
- Perform accurate data collection, documentation, and retrieval using both electronic and paper systems.
- Complete registration processes, insurance verification, co‑payment collection, authorizations, and referral inquiries.
- Assist with maintaining medical records and structured filing systems.
- Provide clerical and administrative support while interfacing with multiple departments.
- Advanced knowledge of insurance verification and related administrative processes.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Previous experience in a medical office or referral coordination role preferred.
- Ability to multitask and maintain accuracy in a high‑volume environment.
- Minimum 1–3 years experience in a medical office preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Customer service, oral and written communication skills, knowledge of medical terminology, data entry skills, ability to work in a fast‑paced environment, and teamwork.
- Athena EMR experience preferred. Insurance experience and previous referral experience a must.
