Within our Retail locations, our Pharmacy Technicians play a critical role in supporting the pharmacy team to consistently deliver on our brand promise.
As a Technician, you will support the pharmacy team in delivering operational and service excellence within your store. Technicians are often the first point of contact to assist our patients and customers to deliver an exceptional experience. They help ensure pharmacy operations run smoothly, prescriptions are filled promptly, safely, and accurately, and we provide caring service that exceeds patient expectations. Technicians operate as part of the pharmacy team through SOPs, best practices, and effective communication, contributing to a safe and inclusive culture where all people feel valued and empowered.
Once in role, Technicians are required to complete a rigorous company training program and satisfy all registration, licensing, and certification requirements according to their State’s Board of Pharmacy guidelines. Duties may be restricted until all necessary requirements are completed.
Responsibilities- Live our purpose by following all company SOPs at each workstation to help Pharmacists manage and improve patient health
- Follow pharmacy workflow procedures at each workstation (production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off) for safe and accurate prescription fulfillment
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and genuine care: assist at pick-up, drive-thru, and over the phone; offer immunizations and other services; and solve or escalate patient problems
- Complete basic inventory activities as permitted by law and directed by the pharmacy leadership team (e.g., receiving deliveries, cycle counts, returns-to-stocks, waiting bin inventories)
- Contribute to a high-performing team, embrace a growth mindset, and seek opportunities to expand clinical and technical knowledge
- Remain flexible for scheduling and business needs; voluntarily travel to stores in the market to work shifts as needed
- Understand and comply with all relevant laws, regulations, professional standards, and ethical principles; comply with CVS policies to ensure patient safety and privacy
- Deliver additional patient health care services (e.g., immunizations, point-of-care testing, offsite clinics) where allowed by law and supported by training and certification
- Complete licensure and training to obtain Technician Immunizer status to support vaccine preparation and administration
- Educate patients about vaccines and refer questions to the Pharmacist-on-duty
- Monitor for adverse reactions and report per public health requirements
- Review and document patient information as applicable; track vaccine supplies
- Must comply with state board of pharmacy requirements and laws governing practice, including age, education, and licensure/certification
- If minimum age is not addressed by the state board, candidate must be at least 16 years old
- If minimum education is not addressed by the state board, candidate must have a high school diploma or equivalent, or be actively enrolled
